THE NEPIA CASE

Further consideration of the action of George Nepia, the well-known representative full-back, in withdrawing from the Maori team to tour France and England, was given by the New Zealand Bugby Union's Management Committee last evening, when a letter was received from the Hawkes Bay Rugby Union. The matter was dealt with in committee. Subsequently it was stated that the Hawkes Bay Rugby Union would be informed: that no member of the New Zealand Eugby Union's Management, Committee was responsible for a statement which had appeared in the Press; to the best of the New Zealand Union's knowledge Nepia did not proceed any further than Hastings on his journey to Wellington to join the team; that Mr. Paaka Turei, who had stated that Nepia was on the Wellington wharf when tho team sailed, had evidently been misinformed; and that Nepia had not been supplanted.
