TO-DAY'S PROCEEDINGS
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
The House of Representatives met at 2.30 p.m. to-day.
Mr. W. A. Veitch (Wanganui) gave notice to ask the Minister of Railways if ho would make provision as on previous occasion to pay full pay to railway men who have been off duty during the influenza epidemic. The Minister of Agriculturo (the Hon. O. J. Hawken) gavo notice to introduce tho Noxious Woeds Amendmont Bill and the Forests Amendment Bill.
lv reply to Mr. Veitch, the Prime Minister stated that he had been informed by tho Dairy Control Board that certain of the merchants were holding out conditions in tho matter of credit, but the points had now been settled. Credits had been established up to a margin of twelve months. Financial arrangements made were satisfactory in every way, and the industry was fully protected financially, and was in a better position so far as marketing was concerned. The letters of credit established were on the basis of 30----days' sight. Tho board had said that in the final return there was practically no difference between 30 days, or drafts on sight.. troduced by Govornor-General's Message.
Amendments to the Family Allowances Bill wero also introduced by Gov-ernor-General's Message. The Minister of Pensions (tho Hon. G. J. Anderson) 'explained that the amendments aimed at providing for tho strajr child who happened to be in a family but had not been formally adopted. There was also provision that Friendly Society allowances should be exempted when computing the family income. As far as he knew the increased expenditure involved in tho amendments amounted to & 5000 per annum.
