TRAFFIC GREATLY HAMPERED.

(United Press Association.—Copyright.) (Australian-New Zealand Cable Assn.) (Received 26th August, 10 a.m.)

NEW YORK, 25th August.

An unusually heavy fog cloaked New Yovk and vicinity, seriously hampering traffic in both street and harbour. Liners which were clue early in tho morning were delayed in the outskirts of the harbour, and were unablo to dock for many hours. Smaller vessels were forced to operate with extreme caution, while street traffic greatly slowed down. Steamers from Boston, Providence, and elsewhere were so long delayed that many passengers were landed miles from the docks and completed the trip by taxi-cab or subway.
