ATTEMPTED SUICIDE

WAIHI, 25th August.

Mrs. Jane Erwin, wife of Thomas Ei-win, attempted to take her own life in the early hours of yesterday morning. Sho was missed from her bedroom, and a search made by her daughter resulted in her finding her mother hanging over a bricked-in copper. She pulled her out, and wag horrified to find her mother covered with blood, with several gashes in her throat. The unfortunate woman was conveyed to the hospital, where she lies in a critical condition. Mrs. Erwin was a victim of the epidemic of 1918, and, together with the loss of her only son from the epidemic, had never recovered normal health.
