ENGAGEMENT REPORTED

PANGALOS FINDS SUPPORT.

(Published in The Timea.)

(Received 23rd August, 2 p.m.)

LONDON, 22nd August,

The Athens correspondent of "The Times" states that the Kilkis and the Leon, assisted by a seaplane squadron, are reported' to have engaged the Pergamos, whose commander is sympathetic to Pangalos's cause, and the destroyer flotilla, commanded by Captain Kolialexis, who is unwilling to recognise the revolution.

The Greek battleship Kilkis is the old U.S.N. Mississippi, built by Cramps, of Philadelphia, in 1907, of a type earlier than the Seattle, flagship of the American Fleet when it was here. The Greek Government purchased both the Mississippi and the Idaho at the same time, and reehristened them Kilkis and Lemnos. The Leon is a destroyer built by Cammell, Laird, of Birkenhead, in 1911. She had a speed of 32 knots. The Pergamos, on which Pangalos ia said to be, is an ex-Austrian torpedo boat.
