NATIONAL COACHES
OPINIONS ABOUT THE PROPOSAL.
(Australian-New Zealand Cable Assn.) (Received 23rd August, 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, 22nd August. The "Daily Express" publishes a number of opinions on its suggestion that J. B. Hobbs and Wilfred Bhodes should be appointed national coaches. Lord Hawke, one of the Marylebone Club's trustees, says there are too many difficulties in the way.
A. E. R. Gilligan, who captained England in Australia during the last tour, says it is a good idea, but he is doubtful if it can be carried out.
J. W. H. T. Douglas (Essex) says it is a good scheme, but the right people must handle it.
The Hon. L. H. Tennyson (Hampshire) considers that both players arc too busy to take up tho job.
The Hon. F. S. G. Calthorpe (Warwickshire) says that coaching ib best left to the counties.
