VICE-REGAL.

The death is announced by a Press Association telegram from Duncdin of the Rev. Alexander W. Kinmont, retired Presbyterian minister, at the age of 65 years. Mr. Kinmont had been in poor health for a number of years.

The death has occurred at Dunedin (States a Press Association telegram) of Mr. C. H. Street, licensee of the Provincial Hotel. He was a member of the eighth contingent to the South African war, and rose to the rank of captain.

Dr. C. Spencer Sloeombe, B.Sc. (New Zealand), Ph. D. (London), who has been appointed locturer in psychology at the Auckland Teachers' Training College, is a native of New Zealand. He is at present vice-principal of the Training College at Sierra Leone, "West Africa. Dr. Slocombo was born at' Gore, and was educated at the Southland Boys' High School, afterwards going to Canterbury College, where he took his B.Sc. He was for some time research officer in the Forestry Department, and later went to England, where he received his degree of doctor of philosophy. He received his appointment to Sierra Leone about a year ago.
