SHIPS' FITTINGS
LIABLE TO.CUSTOMS DUTY.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day.
.. The Guy C. Goss has been stripped md a considerable change has been made to the barque's appearance since t i recent sale. All the gear landed is •object to duty, and the Customs Department does not miss a chance of obtaining revenue from dutiable goods. Even the coastal steamer Manaia, which v as recently wrecked at Slipper Island, la not exempt. All permanent fittings which have been salvaged from the wreck are subject to duty when brought to the mainland.
The future of the Guy C. Goss has not been definitely settled, but it is probable that she will be used in connection with the owners' shingle business.
