CATHOLIC WORLD
+ PRAYING FOR MEXICO CONFLICT OF CHURCH & STATE LABOUR UNIONS SUPPORT THE J GOVERNMENT. (United Press Association. —Copyright.) (Australian-New Zealand Cable Assn.) MEXICO CITY, Ist August. While the Roman Catholic world prayed for Mexico on Sunday in response to instructions from Pope Pius, and Mexican Catholics knelt in priestless churches, members of the regional Confederation of Labour, with Government employees, paraded the streets of important centres of the country as a demonstration in support of the Government's religious regulations. So far it is learned that the people have kept themselves in control, but reports coming in show indications of disturbances and clashes in various parts of the republic on Saturday afternoon and night, when the churches were turned over to citizens' committees, as the priests withdrew.
