SMITHFIELD AND LONDON RETAIL MEAT PRICES.

The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board has received the following cablegram from its London office, dated 30th July, 1926, advising Smithfleld delivered prices at that date as follows, with prices for the two previous weeks shown in parentheses:— New Zealand Wethers and Maidens—Canterbury quality, selected brands, 561b and under 6%d Per lb (6%d—6%d); 57 to 641b, 6d per lb (G%d—6%d); 65 to 721b/ 5Hd per lb <5%d —s*4d). New Zealand Mutton (Wether)— Legs, lOd to 12d per lb (12d to 14d); shoulders, 8d to lOd per lb (9d to 12d); loins, 8d per lb (9d to 12d); necks, 7d to 9d per lb (Cd to 9d); breasts, 4d per lb (3d to sd). Tho Banß' of New Zealand, Produce Department, has received the following advice from its London office, under date 30th July:— "Frozent Meat.—No improvement In the demand for' wether mutton is expected yet. The market for ewes is dull. Lambs are in oversupply and prices are affected in consequence. There is a little better demand for beef. Wethers, light, 5%d to 7d per lb;. wethers, heavy, 4> / 4d to 5%d per lb; ewes, 3%d to 4%d per lb; lambs, 2's, BUd to 9d per lb; lambs, S's, 8d to B>/id per lb; lambs, 4's, 7%d to SVid per lb; lambs, seconds, 8d to BJ,4d per lb; ox hinds, s!,id to 5%d per lb; ox fores, 3^d to 3%d per lb; cow hinds, 4%d to 5d per lb; cow fores, 3d to 3%d per lb."
