WEATHER MODERATES
A FINE SPELL.
Tho barometer has been rising steadily in the South during tho last 36. hours, and, although scattered showers have occurred in some localities, the weather as a whole has been fair to cloudy. Last night was particularly cold everywhere, Wellington recording nine degrees of frost on the grass. The strong winds of the last few days have subsided, and. variable breezes, with westerlies predominating, may be expected to prevail.
