POINCARE'S PROPOSALS
NEW INDIRECT TAXATION
TO REPLENISH TREASURY,

PARIS, 27th July.
An official statement discloses that the Government proposes the immediate raising by new indirect taxation of two and a half milliards of francs to provide the necessary Treasury funds, and further proposes to readjust the various duties, increase the railway rates, the taxes on mineral waters, motor-cars, waterways, and business turnover, and revise the Customs duties. The taxes on income from personal property will be incrased 50 per cent. The taxes on bearer securities will be reduced, but others will be increased, also the estate duty. The general income tax will be reduced.
