Bain interfered with the county matches in different parts of the country, the games resulting as follow:— Kent in the first innings againat Surrey at the Oval made 303 (Ashdown 150 not out), Shepherd taking five wickets for 84 runs. Surrey in the first innings made 305 (Jeacocke 61, Jardine 85). The match was drawn. Playing against Middlesex at Leyton,
Essex in the first innings made 325 (H. Morris 76, Douglas 61). Middlesex in the first innings lost ono wicket for 82 runs. The game was abandoned. Notts in the first innings against Yorkshire at Nottingham made 265 (Payton 62, LillCy 61), and in the second 155. Yorkshire in the first innings scored 245 (Holmes 77), Larwood taking four wickets for 54 runs, and in the second lost one wicket for 53. The match was drawn. Playing for Worcestershire against AVarwickshire at Worcester, Fox made 122 not out. The match was drawn. Playing for Lancashire against Derbyshiro at Chesterfield, Hallows made 100, Watson 109, and R. Tyldesley took five wickets for 17 runs in the first innings and five for 18 in the second, Mac Donald taking four for 13 in the second. Lancashire won. Playing for Hampshiro against Gloucestershire at Bournemouth, Newman in the first innings took eight wickets for 61 runs, and in the second six for 87. Hampshire won. Playing for Somerset against Glamorgan at Cardiff, White took six wicketa for 44 runs. For Glamorgan, Ryan took four wickets for 23 runs, and Arnott five for 29, including the "hat trick." Mercer in the first innings took five wickets for 27 runs, and in the second five for 33. Glamorgan won. Playing for Sussex against Northants at Brighton, Cox took five wickets for 32 runs. For Northants, Jupp took six wickots for 48 runs. The match was drawn.
