"HOW MUSIC IS MADE"
On Friday evening, at the Dominion Farmers' Institute at 8 o'clock, Mr. E. Douglas Tayler, the Government Supervisor of Musical Education, will give a public lecture under the auspices of the Workers' Educational Association on "How Music is Made." This lecture deals with the evolution of musical form in a somewhat novel and entertaining fashion, and will be freely illustrated by the lecturer at the piano, and vocally by Mrs. Douglas Tayler. A well-known tune is analysed and its structural principles noted, after which this same tune appears in different guises, starting from mediaeval and ending with modern times. The resources of the composer are also reviewed, and something of the relationship of _ music to life is discussed. A hearty invitation is extended to tho public by tho W.E.A.
