NEW ZEALAND TEAM

■>' New Zealand is to bo represented by 4vo athletes at the umateur athletic ■championships of Australia and New Zealand to be held at Brisbane on the I4th/i7th, 19th, and 21st August, and jfill also have delegates at the biennial conference of. amateur athletic associations of Australia and New Zealand, takes place during the period of ;the championships. The team is to .assemble in Wellington to-morrow, and ..will be farowelled by the New Zealand ;'A.A.A. Council, at a function on Friday morning, to which all interested in the •port are invited. .... The members of the team and the •vents in which they will compete are: ■ J. W. Shirley (Auckland), jumps, hurdles, and decathlon. S. A. Lay (Hawera), javelin throw.ing H. Cabot (Dunedin), one and three mile walks. W.Harvey (Wairarapa), hammer and 'discus throwing. W. Savidan (Auckland), one and three miles run. J. B. M' Crystal (Auckland) intended to make the trip, but met with an inJjnry recently. '■ Mr, E. G. Guy, a member of the iNew Zealand A.A.A. Council and hon. JiecVetaTj- of the Wellington A.A. Club, ;wili accompany the team as manager, and will/toe New Zealand's chief delegate at the conference. Many matters of importance to the sport are on tho agenda paper for the conference, one in which New Zealand is particularly interested being a proposal to revise the 'reinstatement rule. ,' The team, will leave by the Ulimaroa oi Friday for. Sydney, where the mem.berß will Temain for a few days before proceeding to Brisbane. It is expected that the team will arrive back in Wellington on the Ist September. -The following is the programme for the championship, meeting at Brisbane: ',14th August.—looyds, 440 yds, onb mile, three-mile walk, 120 yds hurdles, 1 pole vault, throwing the 161b hammer, throwing the discus, throwing the javelin. ' 17th August.—Decathlon championhhip events, 100 metres, 400 metres, runMing .broad jump, running high jump, putting the 161b shot. 19th August.—Decathlon champion•hip events, 110 me.tro hurdles, 1500 jnettes, pole vault, throwing the discus, throwing the javelin. ■ 21st August.—22oyds, 880 yds, 3 miles, feme-mile walk, 440 yds hurdles, running broad jump, running high jump, put|jjig the 161b shot, and relay race.
