"STRAINED RELATIONS"
THE SOCCER REFEREES.
(By Telegraph.) (Special to the "Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day. The Auckland Football \ Association, lias made arrangements to control Saturday's matches with outside men. The Referees' Association has issued a statement that friction has existed for three years, owing to the Football Association maintaining the attitude that it has the final and only say in all appointments. The referees resent the domineering manner in which the parent body's powers are exercised, and emphatically deny Mr. Menzies's statement that the trouble originated from only a section of the referees. They claim that with the exception of those who are also members of the Football Executive, there is only one regular referee in harness. Aa Mr. Menzies dismissed this week's deputation without discussion, the referees have decided to carry on with the stand adopted. The Befereos' Association advises that it has an earnest desire to officiate at all games on Saturday, but as every effort to arrive at a settlement has been repulsed, this is impossible %vhile the strained Telations continue.
