ASSAULT IN TUNNEL
(Special to the "Evening Post.") CHRISTCHUECH, 2nd July. When the American Fleet was in Lyt--telton in August last a passenger between the port and the city was Herbert John Lilly. Beside him was a young woman. When the train was in the tunnel Lilly attempted to kisa the girl, but. Bhe resisted, and in a struggle a window was broken. The Probation Officer to-day recommended lengthy probation. The Magistrate said the assault in itself was not serious, but in view of the accused's history, it became more serious.
