ST. JUDE'S SCOUT TROOP
• Since the formation of St. Jude's Scout Troop, Lyall Bay, good Work has been done, and much progress made. "" As showing the interest taken in the movement, a large number of parent! and friends attended a concert, investittre, and presentation of colours in the Parish Hall on Thursday evening. The first part of the evening was devoted to games for the Troop, and a musical programme-was submitted by Mrs. Wells. Mrs. Lewis. Mr. and Mrs. Roworth, Miss Chown, and Messrs. Chown and Pratt (members of the Stop Out Club). The items addedlargely to the success of the evening. The Rev. A. T. B. Page (Scout Chaplain) welcomed General Sir Alfred Robin, K.C.M.G., C.B. It was pleannf to note the progress of St. Jude's Troop, who had much to. thank General Robin for. The future appeared full of promise, and he hoped, that the Troop would eventually prove of great use and utility to St. Jude's Church.
General Robin then presented the New Zealand Ensign (donated by Mn. J. Sinclair) to the Troop Standard Bearer, and extended his congratulation! on th« success achieved by the Scouts in so short a period. The following members having successfully passed their tenderfoot examination were paraded, and after dne ceremony presented with their badge*: F. Gooch, J. Smith, L. Vinsen, M. Murray, E. Gray, S. Hall, E. M'Donald, N. Haven, J. Knowles, A. Green. The presentation of warrant and investiture of Mr. R. Cargill as Scoutmaster waa then officially proceeded with, with the usual ceremony, by General Robin. The gift of a first-aid outfit was made to the Troop by Captain Heywood, and the committee gratefully acknowledged the services of those who contributed to the musical programme, also the ladies' refreshment committee.
