LIQUID FUEL FROM COAL
A meeting of the chemical section of the Wellington Philosophical Society was held at Victoria College on Monday night, when Professor W. P. Evans gave his presidential address, entitled "Synthetic Liquid Fuels From Coal." The speaker dealt with three different aspects of the siibject, the production of liquid fuels from primary tar, from carbon monoxide and hydrogen, and by tho hytlroSenation of coal. It was shown that by using the two first processes together it is possible to convert uoal, except for a, small amount of ash, wholly into useful liquid fuels and lubricating oils. The lecture was much appreciated by those present, and at the close of the meeting the speaker was accords! a hewty vote pi thanks.
