"PAOLO AND FRANCESCA."

On Wednesday evening next in the Town Hall concert chamber, the Wellington Harmonic Society will present in concert form, "Paolo and Francesca," a grand opera, by Claude M. Haydon. The libretto is founded on E. A. Vidler's drama, "The Rose of Ravenna," and the scene is in Italy in the thirteenth century, during the historic feud between the Guelpns and the Ghibellines. The cast requires ten soloists, "and the opera is in four acts, with choral prologue and epilogue. The whole work is of a very high standard, and an excellent rendering is promised under the direction of Mr. H. Temple White. This will be the first presentation of the opera in its entirety, although portions of it have been given in Australia. The box plan is open at The. Bristol, and intending patrons are advised to book their seats as early as possible.
