BOUGHT AND SOLD ■-_ 4 ■ - AN. ILLEGAL TRANSACTION. When he.', .was in straitened circumstances,' William Reid M'Caskill,. a labourer, sold a motor-cycle, which he had not fully paid for. To-day, in the Magistrate's Court, M'Caskill was charged with obtaining £32 liy^,false pretences from Alexander Gray, the person to whom he sold the motor bicycle. Chief-Detective Ward stated that in January, 1925, the accused purchased a motor-cycle for £45 under a hire and pur- \ chase agreement. He paid £16 of the purchase money; and in May sold the machine to the complainant for £32, stating, that he had fully paid for it, and that it was his property. Later the owners seized the machine. Mr.'Page, IS.M., imposed a fine of £5", and ordered the accused to repay the amount owing at the rate of £1 10s a week, in defaiilt one month's, ihiprisonment. _■;_• •" ■ . ■ ■■' In regard to the amount to be paid, Mr. W.'ls.'Leicester pointed out that the purchaser of the cycle had used the machine" for.'eight months."
