SEARCH FOR ESCAPEE
(By Telegraph.—Pres» Association.)
INVERCARGILL, Ist July.
A strong band of police constables arid warders continued the search yesterday for William Howell, the youthful Borstal Institute inmate who escaped from custody on Wednesday afternoon. During the night he apparently travelled about 20 miles to Greenhills, where ho made a daring visit this morning to the store. He was recognised as the "wanted" man, but the residents made no attempt to detain him, and he finally disappeared in the scrub. The search is being continued.
