In a match against Essex, Hampshire in the first innings made 488 (Brown 100, Mead 107, Judd 78, Livsey 54, O'Connor taking five wickets for 75), and in the second innings lost four wickets for 49. Essex in the first innings scored 226 (Morris 67, Boyes securing seven wickets for 51), and in the second innings 310 (Cutmore 67, O'Connor 84, Kennedy getting four wickets f : 34). Hampshire won by six wickets. Against Surrey, Yorkshire in the first innings scored 398 (Leyland 133, Mitchell 89, Robinson 69). Surrey in the first innings made 228 (Shepherd 91, Jardine 82), and in the second 157 (Jardinc 63, Crawford taking five wiekots for 59). Yorkshire won by an innings and 13 runs. For Kent against Northants, Hardings made J.OB. Tor Northants Clarke in the first innings took six wickets for 59 runs, and in the second five for 92. Kent won. For Somerset against Derby, Bridges took five wickets for 59, White four-for 13, and Hunt five for 90. Somerset won. For Lancashire against Warwick, E. Tyldesley mado 144. Mac Donald in the first innings took six wickets for 69, and in the second seven for 60. For Warwick Quaifo. too,k six wickets for 92. Lancashire won. For Notts against Leicester, Payton made 118, and Richmond took five wickets for 41. Notts won. For Middlesox against Gloucester Lee made 152, and Hearne took six wickets for 64. For Gloucester Sinifield took five wickets for 57, and Mills five for 94. Middlesex won. ' .
