SCENERY PRESERVATION.
" 'Explaining the amendments of the Scenery Preservation Act introduced into the House of Representatives yesterday, the Minister of Lands (the Hon. 'A. D. M'Leod) stated that power was being given to the Minister in connection with the destruction of vermin and animals which damaged scenic reserves. Power was being given to officers of the Lands Department to take dogs and guns on reserves. At present this could not be done.
rThe Leader of the Opposition (Mr. H. E. Holland) asked whether the Bill contained any provision dealing with the restriction of deer.
" The Minister replied- that that war a matter which was not dealt with iv the Bill.
