INFLUENZA BLAMED
AVhen Edith Hunt, a domestic, aged 37 years, made her fifth appearance for drunkenness before Mr. E. Page, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court to-day, she attributed her downfall to the 'flu. She said she had been nursing at night, and when she went for a walk down Taranaki street yesterday ehe 3lippcd on the pavement and hurt her eye. The Magistrate said he would give Iter a chance, though if she came up again he would probably have to send her to Pnkutoa Inland. He fined her £2 for drunkenness, and 10s for a breach of her prohibition order. The sub-inspec-tor remarked that the accused always had a friend who came forward and paid her fines, so the Magistrate refused to give her time in which to find the money.
