OVER THE SELWYN
'(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Further pile driving tests in the Selwyn River bed having resulted in a pile being driven to the depth required, the Department has now decided _to proceed with the erection of the bridge without delay. Owing to previous tests having proved unsatisfactory it had been thought it would be necessary to re-design the bridge. The estimated cost of the bridge is in the vicinity of £15,000. The work will be carried out by the Department, none of the tenders received having been accepted, owing to the unsatisfactory result of previous pile driving tests.
