TWO SEAMEN'S UNIOT
REGISTRATION REFUSED
POSITION JN NEW SOUTH . VLES.
(United Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received Ist July, 10 a.m.)
SYDNEY, This Day. The Industrial Registrar has refused the application of tho Coastal Seamen and Firemen's Union and the
New South Wales branch of the Seamen's Union of Aiutralarla for registration as industrial mucus under the Arbitration Act. Th» rejistration of the Coastal Union waa opposed by the Seamen's Union, and tho latter.** application was opposed by the Coastal Union, tho Coastal Ship Owners' Association, and the Interstate Steamship Owners'' Association.
Refusing the Coastal Union's application, tho Registrar said that the evidence had established that control existed over tho union by tho employers. Thus, the union was not genuinely representative of tho employees. After considering the conduct of tlio Seamen's Union since 1924, tho Registrar said that he felt that tho uuion did not desire to regulate ■ tho conditions of employment by the means provided by the Industrial Arbitration Act, and would not if registered as a bona fide industrial union.
