EMPRESS THEATRE.

"Irish Luck" and "Reveills," the two pictures that have been proving so popular at the Empress Theatre this week, will be, screened for the last time tonight. . Thomas Meighan is the star of "Irish Luck," which was taken almost entirely in Ireland, and Betty Balfour is seen in "Reveille," which has for its location London.

"LORD JIM."

The programme commencing to-morrow will be headed by "Lord Jim," a Paramount picture. ' A. man's couvage and faith, put to the sternest test by the hardships confronting those wh-- sail the seas, is the theme of Joseph Conrad's famous novel, "Lord Jim." In !-he production the scenes shift from Oriental ports, to the Indian seas, to the mysterious jungle of a tropical isle where men live in all the exotic charm of a flowery paradise with women of rare primordial beauty. Percy Marmont, Shirley Mason, ' Noah Beery, Raymond Hatton, and Joseph Dowling are in the east, and they take their various parts in a manner worthy of the highest praise. Percy Marmont is seen as Lord Jim, who is'attempting to escape from the consequences of one act of cowardice in his life. T?red Thomson and' Silver King, his horse, are in the lead in "The Bandit's Baby." While the keynote of the picture might be said to be loud and unliniited laughter, the fastaction melodrama which has done much to put Thomson at the top of Western actors has not been forgotten.. The Pathe Gazette includes scenes of the Australia-Lei-cestershire cricket match, the final of the English Soccer Cup, in which the slow motion camera shows the winning goal being scored, and scenes of London on Armistice Day.
