CIVIC LEAGUE
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE.
/A meeting of tho Wellington Civic League Executive Committee was hold on Tuesday evening, Mr. J. 11. Whittakor presiding. Before proceeding with the usual business, the secretary moved the following motion, which was reverently carried: "That this meeting of the executive committee express its deep regret at the demise of tho late Mr. James Ames, the City Valuer; and that appreciation be expressed of his long and faithful service rendered to the City of Wellington." The action of Mr. T. Gray, and the secretary in joining the deputation to the Minister of Railways re the Tawa Flat railway deviation was approved. 'In l'oferenco to the electrical changeover, a letter was received from the Town Clerk stating that the matter would be further considered at tho next meeting of the Tramways Committee, when it was hoped finality would be reached. The forthcoming by-election was discussed, an.! a statement from tho executive officers of the league will bo submitted to the Press. Mr. 1\ W.. Mooro and the secretary reported on their visit to tho meeting of the Haughton Bay Association, and it was resolved to further its request for a new road, means of transport, and lighting fncilities. Appreciation was expressed of the decision of tho Hruighton j Bay Association to link up with the league.
