OBJECTIONS TO MAORI TOUR

MATTERS,

The New Zealand Rugby Union's Management Committeo mot last evening, Mr. S. S. Dean presiding. Others present were: Messrs. A. C. Kitto, T. A. Fletcher, E. M'Kenzie, AY. F. Horuig, C. L. Mullany, H. S.. Lcith, E. AVylie, and H. E. Combs (secretary).

On matters relating to the selection and tour of the Maori team, tho following communications were received:

From tho Bay of Plenty Union: "Re selection, of Mlaori team to tour France: This union wishes to record strong disapproval of selection this team. AYe havo over 300 Maoris playing senior football, and consider some cf them are well worthy of consideration. Wo asked 3rour union to consider arranging for selector to visit the district or to accept nominations and give them consideration. ''

From the Wanganui Union: "I am instructed to write to your union suggesting that in future any dealings which the Maori Rugby Advisory Board or any other body organising matches throughout New Zealand desire to have with affiliated unions should be conducted through tho N.Z.R.U., and that unions be notified accordingly. This union resents the method adopted by tho Maori Board in setting up ono union against another bartering for matches."

The 'Bay of Plenty protest was referred to the Maori Advisory Board, and in connection with the Wanganui communication, it was decided to inform unions that negotiations for matches as suggested must bo made through the Now Zealand Union.

With regard to a request from the Canterbury Rugby Union for a match at Christchurch with the New Zealand Maori team on Wednesday, 21st July, it was decided to reply that the fixtures for the Maori team in Now Zealand had already been arranged.

The South Canterbury Rugby Union advised that tho South Canterbury Referees' Association had submitted tho following remit to go forward to tho Imperial Conference: "That a potted goal count not more than three points."

Tho Pirates Club, Napier, through the Hawkes Bay Union, forwarded an appeal 'against tho Hawkes Bay Union's decision in >ordering the rccont match, Pirates v. Hastings, to be replayed. This was the match in which the referee ordered, extra time to bo played on account of one team wasting time. The Hastings Sub-union, under whose jurisdiction the match was played, dismissed the protest, but the Hawkes Bay Union uphold it, and ordered the match to be replayed.—The matter was referred to the Appeal Committee.

It was agreed to vote the North Auckland Union £50 towards the expenses of their tour to the King Country, Wanganui, and Taranaki, when the tour was finally arranged.

The executive of . the R. M' Gregor Memorial, Thames, wrote stating that they had decided to adopt the proposal of Mr. Henderson, of Sydnoy, and requested that tho manager and captain of tho 1926 New Zealand team should be asked to unveil the memorial on behalf of New Zealand subscribers. \Thc writer stated they were pleased that two Thames-born boys—A. E. Cooko and A. R. Lomas —would be accompanying tho 1926 All Blacks on the tour to Australia.

Various applications for reinstatement were dealt with.
