MCONACHY v. TOTHILL,
Further good progress was made by Clark M'C'onachy at yesterday's sessions of his match with T. Tothill, though during the evening session, when crystalate balls were brought into use, Tothill showed considerable improvement. Safety play did not affect the New Zealand champion to any great extent, and, moreover, Tothill succeeded in making much better breaks than on the previous day. The improved performance of Tothill has given added interest to the match. The best breaks were;—M'Conachy, 145, 130, 349, 123, and 183; Tothill, 170, 78, 78, and 264 (unfinished). At the close of the evening session the scores were:—Tothill (receives 2000), 3754, in play; M'Conaehy, 2823. The match is being continued this afternoon and this evening.
