BOYS' INSTITUTE
The monthly meeting of the Boys' Institute and S. A. Rhodes Homes for Boys was held in vT,e institute building, Tasman street, last evening, when the following members were present: Mr. G. A. Troup (hi the chair), Mesdames J. Hislop, and G. T. Bell, Messrs. J. Hislop, W. H. Clark, H. Leah, G. R. Baudiuct, and W. S. Webber. •
The director's report stated that in spite of the colder weather the attendances at the institute each evening were as large as ever. The boxing championships were to be held shortly, and the boys were training hard. During the month a junior band had been formed of boys ranging from 12 to 15 year*. The Scouts were- training for tho indoor rally to be held in the Wellington district shortly.
It was with deep regret that the boys and officials of the institute learnt of the death of Mr. Coulter, who had been of great assistance to tho institute at its Sunday evening services.
At the close of the meeting a highly satisfactory report of the building extension fund was submitted.
