It appears as though the Railway Department has seriously considered the proposition placed before' it by tho Foxton Chamber of Commerce to construct a light railway line to the beach, says ■an exchange. The district traffic manager and engineer have visited I/> ton on several occasions lately, and it Is understood that surveyors aro already busy taking levels. An estimate for the Avork Avill be submitted to the for consideration and sanction at an early date. Messrs. R.
