INDIAN TEAM AT WESTPORT

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

WESTPORT, 9th June. In perfect weather and in the presence of a record attendance for a hockey match, the Indian Army team this afternoon defeated Buller by 9 goals to nil. The visitors played a brilliant game, especially in the first spell, when they rattled up seven goals. Parke, the Buller custodian, brilliantly saved numerous hot shots at the goal. In the second spell Buller held the visitors well, repeatedly putting them on the defensive, but failing to combine in the finishing touches. The visitors added two more goals to their score just on time. The scorers were Captain Cox (3), Lahl Shah (2), Linga Singh (2), Captain Bellchamber (2). On the Buller side, Lockey (forward) and Tregurtha (back) were the outstanding players, Lockey showing an adaptness in the juggling of the ball that ranked him with the best of the visitors. Messrs. Thorp (of Canterbury) and Sara (of Westport) were the referees. The Indian players were the guests of the Buller Hockey Association at a ball.'
