HILL STREET DEVIATION

PROPOSED MEETING OF PROTEST.

That the Wellington North Ratepayers' Association has little faith in the project for putting a tramway through Hill street has been shown by the various resolutions on the subject duly forwarded to the City Council from time to time. In view of the recent decision that the work should be proceeded with, the matter was again brought up at the monthly meeting of the executive this week, and it was decided on the motion of Mr. W. S. Wilson that tho association" should take steps to convene a meeting of representatives from all the other Eatepayers' Associations, together with the Civic League, with a view to a joint protest being made against the proposed expenditure of £25,000 or more of the ratepayers' money upon such an unsatisfactory, i£ not entirely futile, method of shortening the journey to Karori and tho western suburbs.
