A UNIFORM PENALTY

DEFAULTING MILITAEY TBAINEES.

A warning to' all military trainees who fail to attend training camps was contained in an admonition given by Mr. L. G. Hewitt,. S.M., to four young men named respectively Horace George Guppy, Charles William Cleveland Gaynor, John Gage, and Clifford George Collins, who appeared in the Magistrate's Court yesterday to answer charges of failing to attend a casual training camp at Trentham. "I have come to a conclusion in regard to all men who fail to attend these camps," said Ms Worship. "Those who do attend leave behind in many cases wellpaid jobs and accept for the time being the Stato's pay of 4s per day. Those who do not attend draw a more lucrative salary, and their failure to go to camp is unfair to those who see their duty to their country. Each of the defendants will be fined a uniform penalty, in this case £5."
