CONFLICT AT EDINBURGH
CONSTABLES INJURED.
(Eeceived 7th May, 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, 6th May. A conflict occurred late last night at .Edinburgh between a big crowd and the police. Bottles and stones were thrown and shopwindows smashed, and the contents of two looted. Five constables and a number of civilians were taken to hospital. A police sergeant was slashed on the back with a razor, and a mounted constable's horse took fright, bolted, and collided with a railing. The horse was killed and the rider severely injured. Five arrests were made. Later. Three of the men arrested for last night's disturbances in Edinburgh were sent to prison for a month, with the option of paying fines.
