The Mayor, Mr. Bridger, at :: meeting of the Borough Council, on ;ercd a protest against a rider added to tho verdict of the jury in connection with tho recent fatal boarding-house fire, recommending the strict enforcement of tho bylaw dealing with the licensing of boarding-houses, particularly regarding the provision of efficient fire escapes. Tho report, he said, had been circulated throughout the Dominion, and had damaged Eltham's reputation.
