CHARLATAN PASSES THROUGH
The Southern 'chaser Charlatan passed through "Wellington to-day en route for Hawera. He will compete at the Egmont Racing Club's Meeting next week, with the Wanganui Jockey Club's Meeting to follow. His form at these two fixtures will decide his future movements, but if all goes well he may continue the trip to Ellerslie for the Auckland Kacing Club's Meeting, early in June. The Winkle gelding is very well, and he gavo a very pleasing exhibition of jumping when he was schooled at Eiccarton on Tuesday. P. C. Porter will be in charge of him during his northern trip, while E. Shaw will accompany him to do the riding.
