AMATEUR RADIO SOCIETY

The annual meeting of the Amateur Radio Society of Wellington was held last week at the Dominion Farmers' Institute. Mr. J. H. Owen occupied the chair. The balance-sheet showed a credit cash balance of over £12, and no liabilities. The election of officebearers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—President, Mr. J. H. Owen; active vice-presidents, Messrs. J. H. Owen, H. Hardcastle, D. L. Harrower, and I. M. Levy; honorary vicepresidents, the Right Hon. J. G. Coates, Dr. G. V. Anson, Dr. H. E. Gibbs, Sir A. F. Eoberts, Messrs. E. H. M'lnness, G. Shirtcliffe, H. D. Bennett, C. J. B. Norwood, L. T. Watkins, and E. W. Ackland; chairman, Mr. J. H. Owen; vice-chairmfin, Mr. W. J. Eoehe; honorary legal adviser, Mr. W. E. Leicester; honorary auditor, Mr. O. G. Kember; honorary secretary, Mr. L. C. Grouhand; honorary treasurer, Mr. T. H. Megann; elective members (executive), Messrs. F. E. Barber, L. S. Curtis, A. K. Campbell, E. Blackmore, and J. D. Leicester. In recognition of his services to the society, the retiring secretary, Mr. Megann, was voted an honorarium of £3 3s. A letter was received from the Secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department suggesting that the society submit the names of three members for appointment as honorary radio inspectors. It was decided to refer the selection of the inspectors to the new executive. The rest of the evening was devoted to a demonstration by Mr. Harrower of broadcast reception with .a five-valve reflex set.
