ANNUAL MEETING OF ASSOCIATION.

The annual meeting of the Berhampore Progressive Association was held ob Monday evening, Mr. R. T. Bailey presiding over a fair attendance of members. The annual report disclosed, in detail,, various matters of interest to the members of the association and residents of the Berhampore district, which had been taken up for consideration during the. year, including bettef maintenance and improvement of streets, footpaths, and drainage; adequate water supply for places on the higher levels; regulation of in Eintoul street, Luxford street, and Adelaide road near Brittomart street; enforcement of city bylaws with regard to cattle and horses wandering on footpaths} general improvement in sanitary arrangements with regard to removal of rubbish; better facilities in connection with the postal and telegraphic arrangements; eradication of noxious weeds: prompt action to combat any epidemic, or sanitary defect likely to menace ihe health. of. the community; and a general improvement with regard to seating and.opening up of reserves and plantations. of the district. The balance-sheet showed a credit on the year's transactions, and no liabilities. The following members were elected as officers for the ensuing year:—President, Mr. E. T. Bailey (re-elected); vioe-presidents, Messrs. S. Duncan, G. W. Humphries, and H. Yates; committee, Messrs. M. F. Glading, H. F. Maisey, C. Eollett, and C. S. Wilson; auditor, Mr. H. F. Maisey (re-elected); secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. Georgeson (re-elected). The president and officers thanked the members present for their election, and the continued confidence to manage the affairs of the association. In conclusion, he pointed out that excellent work had been carried on in regard to the various matters considered by the executive of the association during the year, but in order to achieve the best results it was essential to obtain the whole-hearted support and co-opera-tion of all residents who had the welfare of the Berhampore district at heart. A unanimous vote of thanks was passed to the various public bodies and persons who had assisted the association during the year.
