Slade, chief Vancouver importer of Australian and New Zealand butter, is protesting at Ottawa against the new 6 cents dumping duty being retroactive to Ist January. Vancouver importers are launching a trade protest throughout the Dominion. Mr. Slade says that fresh Australian butter sold to Canadians at 1 cent profit, when home supplies were short, due to heavy exports to Britain, saving Canadians high prices. A million and a halt pounds are liable for duty.
