HOUSEHOLDERS' ANNUAL MEETINGS

FREK STATIONERY SUPPLIES.

The annuiiT meetings of householders throughout the Wellington Education district were held last evening. The School Committees' Association remit recommending tlmt -school stationery, •te., be supplied by'the Education Department free in bulk, in view of the increasing cost of theso articles to parents of children attending the primary schools, was adopted at most <>f the meetings. BROOKLYN. There was a large attendance at the Brooklyn meeting, where Mr. J. H. Whittaker presided. The. annual report stated that notwithstanding the time lost by the epidemic lust J«ar, the school results wero exceeding good, and reflected great credit on the te'acning staff. Appreciation was expressed of the board's promptness ia providing extra ■ccoinmodation for teaching purposes. Two adjacent cottages (the property of the school) had been converted into class rooms, and were now being used by two classes, this being only a temporary arrangement. The report, which dealt with all phases of the school work, was adopted. It was resolved that the Government be urged, in justice to the schools, to use the average roll number as a basis for payment of. capitation,, and also as a basis for calculating the school accommodation required. A_motion was carried requesting the in-' coming committee to use every effort to have the infant school replaced by an up-to-date building worthy of the district, and .. also .to have the present portable echool at Mornington replaced by a fully .equipped school of sufficient capacity to meet the requirements of the suburb. The new committee was elected as follows: —Messrs. E. Dixon, J. I. Goldsmith, J. Staples,; W. Hatch, J. M. Russell, G. H. England, Gk Clarke, A. Anderson, S. H. O'Halloran.
