LEVEL CROSSING SMASH
IDENTITY OF VICTIMS.
(United Press Association.—Copyright.) ADELAIDE, 2nd May.
The victims of the Cheltenham level crossing sma^'i were John Caire, Mrs. Bortlia Caire, wife of the former, Clifton Caire, and Mrs. Clifton Caire, and Iverna Caire. The police failed to find c gatekeeper after the smash. They consider the bodies so mangled that he may be one of them. The fact that the gates were open indicates that he was on duty shortly before the crash. The engine-driver and fireman state that r either of them saw the car ti.l they were ten yards from it, but then it was too late to avert an accident. They applied the brakes and pulled up in fifty yards. The engine and two following cars were derailed.
