HUTT VALLEY POWER
MEETING OF BOARD.
The fortnightly meeting of the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board was held on Thursdays Present: Mr. J. W. M'Ewar. (chairman) and Messrs. A. J. Hobbs, H. Foley, G. Lawrence, E. Windley. H. Jay, A. W. Press, A, J. Hobbs, \V.H. P. Barber, and k. Waiker. Mr. Foley ivas Instructed tc make inquiries for an alternative site 'or it sub-statior, at Taita. The Electrical Employees! Union made complaint that two men who were in regular employment elsewhere were doing electrical installations in their spare time. It was decided to inform the union I that these men had. licenses, and there-, fore the board could not raise any, objection. ' • ■ . Mr. Windley complained that sufficient consideration wae not being given to the Oharits district, which had petitioned some time ago for a supply line. The engineer was requested to hasten his report on the cost of the line. It was decided to prosecute the owner of a property who, in felling trees, had damaged the board's line. A deputation from the Horokiwi Valley waited on the board to inquire when* the board intended to roticuiat6 the- district. The speakers were Messrs. Mexted, Reith, Lynch, and Dickinson. The Jjoard, through the chairman, promised to give immediate consideration to the question and give a reply after the next meeting, a fortnight hen co. The engineer, Mr. E. Bickerstaff, reported that the maximum demand for the week anded 27th March was 1320 k.v.a.; that there were now 3819 consumers; that ■ the connected load totalled 9766 k.w.; that a survey of the line down Takapau .•.- road was being made.
