Commenting ■ on the congestion of fruit at Wellington and the fact that Nelson growers were not advised of the congestion, the prosiclont of tho Nelson Exporters' Association emphasised tho need for a livo. council to watch tho.interests of Ncisoii growers. There was also need, he said, for Nelson growers "to have a representative in Wellington to' keep in close touch with supply matters, especially in view of this province exporting somethiiig like 400,000 cases of apples. Had the federation ■ advised the Nelson growers of the. actual position in Wellington, arrangements could have been made to put fruit in cool storago hore, as space would have boon available for probably 75,000 caoes. Fear was expressed that the fruit held, in the ordinary goods shodsi in Wellington would seriously deteriorate. '
