TENNIS TOURNEY

SPOILT BY WIND

TO-DAY'S PLAY AT MIRAMAR

A gusty northerly wind militated against good play in the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association's hard court tournament at the Miramar courts today. In spite of this very considerable handicap, good progress was made in the varioils rounds, the men's championship singles and doubles especially being productive of some close contests. Lampe and L. France were in good form for their match with T. Marshall aud C. B. Malfroy, in the first round of the doubles, and won fairly comfortably, 6-2, 6-0. Malfroy, in this morning's play, beat Morgan, 6-1, 6-2, in the third round of the championship singles, and is playing excellent tennis. Lampe and Murray are also through the second round. In the second round of the ladies' championship doubles, Misses Bast and Brady had a hollow victory over Misses Tonks and Sutherland, 6-0, 6-0. Miss D. Howe and L.' Franco were almost as successful in their match with Mrs. Heald and Blennerhasset in the first round of the combined doubles, winning 6-1, 6-2. Ferkins is showing up well with Forbes in the second round of the boys' doubles, beating Stephens and M'Kelvie, 6-2, 6-1, while D.
