ATHLETIC WIN AT NELSON
NELSON, 28th March.
The final match in the senior grade concluded to-day between Old Boys and College, the latter winning on the first innings by 52 runs. Old Boys required a three-point win to be in the running for championship honours against Athletic, but the result of Saturday's match gives Athletic the championship. Old Boys, in their first innings, made 167 (Neale ,38, J. Newman 9.2, Betts .42, M'Kellar 26). College responded with 319, to which Biggar contributed 87, and A. Newman 81. Neale, who took three wickets for 27 runs, was the only bowler to do anything against the defence. '
Bank of Australasia v. Upper Hutt. — Upper Hutt, 78 and 87 (Robertson 31, M'Crosin 14, Cotter 20, Jowett 19, Haggerty 17). Bowling:.Butler eleven for 73, Holdsworth seven for 37, Pringle two for 13. Bank of Australasia, 95 and six for 79 (Butler 39 and 12, Holdsworth 44, M'lvor 24, Pringle 21). Bowling, M' Crosin twelve for 56. Two games between teams of boys and girls from St. Thomas's Church and St. Cuthbevt's Church were1 played at Nairn Street Keaerve on Saturday. The boys' match resulted in a win for St. Thomas 'S by 45 to 3.0. In the gills' St. Thomas's scored 171 for nine wickets and St. Cuthebert's made 24. For the winners, Miss Green made 56 and Miss Brog.in 53, both retiring, and Miss Pridde-13. and Miss Faber, 15., In the bowling department, Miss "Webb took six wickets and Miss Brogan four. For St. Cuthbert 's Misa Clarke was . top scorer and Miss Avery captured five wickets. , j' , .
