HONG KONG-CANTON CONFERENCE.
(Sydney Sun Cable.)
(Received 29th March, 11 a.m.)
HONG KONG, 28th March,
The Governor, addressing the Chamber of Commerce, announced that the Canton Government was now prepared to appoint three members to negotiate with three Hong Kong officials for the settlement of the boycott. The Governor said that he agreed with the proposal and hoped that the negotiations would- lead to an honourable and lasting settlement. "It seems sane common-sense," he said, "the Cantonese people are at last, beating down Communism and re-eatablishing law and order." He regarded the outlook as more hopeful 'than at any time since June.
