MUKDEN ARMIES CONVERGE ON PEKIN
BEDS ACTIVE TO THE SOUTH,

PEKIN, 28th March. The civil war has reached an important stage. The Mukden Generals Li Ching-lin and Chang Tsong-chang, who only loosely acknowledge Chang Tso-lin's authority, having recaptured Tientsin from Kuo Minchun, are now advancing along, the railway 'to Pekin, whileChang Tso-lin'g cavalry are advancing' on Pekin from the east, and Wu Pei-fu, having completely cleared the Honan Province of Kuo Min-chun forces, is advancing on the capital along the Pekin-Hankow Tailway. Meanwhile, Wu Pei-fu's rear is threatened owing to a Red coup d'etat recently at Changsha. Hankow reports that troops frt>m Changsha aTe moving against Yochow on the Hunan-Hupeh border, and that this is regarded at Wu Pei-fu'a headquarters as the preliminary to a general Red expedition against Hankow.
